Playback and navigation
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Play / Stop | Space |
| Toggle the metronome | K |
| Toggle Loop Selection for the timeline range | L |
| Move playhead one grid line | ← / → |
| Move playhead by a zoom-dependent fine step | Alt+← / → |
| Toggle a marker at the playhead | M |
| Previous / next marker | Ctrl+← / → |
| Skip to project start / end | Ctrl+Shift+← / → or Home / End |
With a timeline range selected, Space plays it from its start, and the marker shortcuts treat the range start as a marker.
The arrow keys follow the grid setting in the status bar. On a Free grid they move by a quarter beat relative to the current position instead.

In dialogs
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Accept the dialog (its blue footer button) | Enter |
| Cancel the dialog | Esc |
| Move focus within the dialog | Tab / Shift+Tab |
Enter does the same thing as clicking the blue button, so it won't submit a dialog whose button is greyed out. It also stands aside where Enter already means something else — adding a new line in a multi-line text box, pressing a button you've tabbed to, or confirming a dropdown choice. Progress dialogs have no accept button, so Enter does nothing there.

Editing a scratch pattern
These apply when the Scratch notation editor or one of its points has focus.
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Undo / redo a notation edit | Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y |
| Delete the selected editable point | Delete or Backspace |
| Clear the point selection | D |
| Nudge the selected point | ← / → / ↑ / ↓ |
| Nudge the selected point further | Shift+← / → / ↑ / ↓ |
| Add a point | Insert or Enter |
| Toggle touch on a selected platter point | T |
With a point selected, Insert or Enter adds a point on the same lane. Without a selection, it adds a platter point at the middle of the pattern.
